Description
Funded by Fulbright Austria through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program, this four-month award supports interdisciplinary study of American culture, history, and society. It welcomes scholars trained in American Studies, affiliated with American Studies programs, or systematically applying expertise from other disciplines to the United States. Teaching and pedagogy are included. The award rotates annually among Austrian universities; the listed host is the University of Education Upper Austria’s Department of English.
The recipient conducts a research project of their choosing and teaches two courses for advanced undergraduate or graduate students. Each course meets weekly for 90 minutes, with content and format agreed with the host. Tutorials and advising are negotiated according to institutional needs and the scholar’s expertise. Public talks, mentoring, and community engagement may complement the academic work to promote mutual understanding between Austria and the United States.
