Description
The Community Foundation of Mendocino County administers this program through the American Youth Services Fund, established in 2022 to continue the legacy of the American Youth Services nonprofit organization. It supports personal enrichment and exploration among disadvantaged youth and adults through group experiences in the natural environment, with priorities emphasizing youth and young adults.
Priority projects introduce youth to Mendocino County’s distinctive environment and ecosystems, deepen their connection to Earth or Creation, encourage personal faith and spiritual exploration, and inspire stewardship of lands and oceans. The program also seeks individual well-being, shared welfare, and communal participation. It considers trips beyond the county to experience nature and culture, as well as Mendocino Coast programs that improve young people’s quality of life, promote healthy mindsets, and encourage positive contributions to the world.
