This grant funds Illinois-based organizations to implement AmeriCorps programs that engage members in direct service or capacity-building activities addressing critical unmet community needs. Supported focus areas include education, economic opportunity, healthy futures, and support for veterans. Programs must use evidence-based or evidence-informed interventions, achieve measurable outcomes, and foster civic engagement. AmeriCorps members serve in approved positions, may receive living allowances and benefits, and are eligible for a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion. The program prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion, and expects funded organizations to recruit, train, and supervise AmeriCorps members, deliver services aligned with specified outcomes, and comply with all federal and state requirements, including performance reporting and participation in required trainings and events.
