Description
Volunteer Tennessee, the state commission on volunteerism and community service, administers this funding process for new and continuing AmeriCorps programs in Tennessee for the 2027–28 program year. Programs engage AmeriCorps volunteers in evidence-based or evidence-informed service addressing community-identified problems. Areas of work include disaster services, economic opportunity, education, environmental stewardship, healthy futures, and veterans and military families.
The opportunity includes competitive, Education Award Program (EAP), and formula paths. Volunteer Tennessee gives priority consideration to programs serving Tennessee distressed or at-risk counties, building capacity to recruit and manage community volunteers, or increasing participation by disadvantaged and underrepresented youth as AmeriCorps volunteers. AmeriCorps also identifies priorities including youth mental health, veterans, public safety, outdoor recreation, workforce pathways, and strengthening families. A priority must be a significant part of the program’s focus and intended outcomes to receive priority consideration.
