Applied Microbiology International (AMI) supports transformative, sustainability-focused research through the Sustainable Microbiology Novel Research Grant. The programme welcomes members working in academic, industry, and clinical settings who are developing novel, high-impact applied microbiology research. Its goals are to enable significant scientific breakthroughs, contribute to global health and environmental sustainability, and advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).
The grant supports new work, including pilot studies, proof-of-principle studies, methodological advancements, and the development of innovations, rather than existing projects. Scientific merit, innovation, and potential impact are central to selection. Financial need is also considered, alongside the research’s potential contribution to the academic and professional development of those involved.
