Description
The American Mathematical Society’s Centennial Fellowship is an annual award supporting an outstanding mathematician’s research career. Work in all areas of mathematics is eligible, including interdisciplinary research. The fellowship provides resources for course release, research-related travel, and other research expenses, with support paid through the recipient’s university or department.
Research excellence is the primary selection criterion. The selection committee also considers how the proposed fellowship plan would make a meaningful difference in the applicant’s research career, with preference for candidates who have not previously received extensive fellowship support. Applicants must explain how the award would support their success through a research plan contextualized by their broader research statement. AMS membership is offered for the duration of the fellowship.
