Description
The American Meteorological Society (AMS) administers scholarships and fellowships for students pursuing careers in atmospheric and related oceanic or hydrologic sciences. Supported by AMS members, corporations, and government agencies nationwide, the program funds several educational stages: entry into undergraduate study, the final undergraduate year, and the first year of graduate school.
A separate History of Science fellowship supports dissertation research on the history of these fields and seeks to foster working relationships between historians and scientists. Graduate fellowships also offer AMS Annual Meeting participation and ongoing academic and career support. AMS encourages applications from women, minorities, and disabled students, who are traditionally underrepresented in these sciences.
