The Breaking Barriers Research Grant is a joint initiative of the AMSSM Foundation and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). It supports innovative research within sports medicine focused on the health and well-being of traditionally underrepresented communities. The program aims to expand the evidence base supporting historically underserved communities and fund work that can help break barriers within the field.
AMSSM and ACSM intend to award one high-quality research grant each year. Proposals must have clear relevance to primary care sports medicine and specifically address the program’s underserved-community focus. Pilot projects supporting future funding applications are welcome. Applicants also describe their team’s experience helping underserved communities or the motivation behind their proposed work.
