    Funder: Anatomical Society

Due Dates: December 31, 2026, midnight (Application deadline)

Funding Amounts: Two awards of up to £10,000 each for 2026/27; projects normally last approximately one year

Summary: Supports small or pilot anatomical research projects that produce defined outputs and develop early-career researchers’ skills, knowledge or research direction.

Key Information: Applicants must have been elected to Anatomical Society membership by Council at least one year before the deadline.

    Description

The Anatomy Research Development Award is run by the Anatomical Society Council for researchers in the early stages of their academic careers. The 2026/27 round supports projects commencing in 2027. Applicants determine the nature of their proposal, but every project must produce a defined research output and develop additional skills, knowledge or direction that enhances future research activities.

The award supports discrete, small or pilot projects, including laboratory consumables, otherwise unavailable equipment, and access to services such as microscopy, sequencing and proteomics. Travel to another laboratory may be supported to establish a new collaboration or learn a new technique, rather than simply extend an existing collaboration. Projects will normally take place in university departments whose work includes anatomical sciences.
