The Anatomical Society’s Anatomy Training Programme bursary supports members accepted onto its distance-learning training programme. It funds the costs of undertaking the training itself, rather than a separate research project. The programme, co-sponsored by the American Association for Anatomy, provides vocational training for people involved in teaching anatomy who have had limited exposure to human anatomy or clinical experience. It integrates anatomy training and pedagogical skills with participants’ biomedical research.
The programme can be completed in two years and combines self-directed learning, online resources and mentoring at the participant’s home institution with an annual, week-long residential school at Cambridge University. Two of its four modules are offered each year, and modules may be taken individually to accommodate research and teaching commitments. Bursary support is available for each programme year, with payment dependent on successful completion of the summer residential school.
