The Anatomical Society launched this grant in June 2018 to support members’ public engagement and outreach in anatomy. It funds activities that ignite curiosity about human and animal anatomy, encourage anatomists to share their expertise in innovative ways, and reach audiences traditionally hard to engage. The scheme also aims to increase dialogue between researchers and the public, including discussion of animal research and its relevance to health and medicine.
Supported work includes educational workshops, school activities, exhibitions, festival stands and public-facing resources. The program encourages links between schools and academic experts to support primary, secondary and tertiary teaching. Previous awards have supported World Anatomy Day events, interactive anatomical stations, body painting, anatomy games, virtual reality experiences and web-based public education.
