The Anatomical Society normally offers up to eight Undergraduate Summer Vacation Research Scholarships annually. These support undergraduate students undertaking four to ten weeks of research in anatomical sciences, including Anatomy Education, during the summer vacation. Projects are hosted by researchers at universities and research institutions in Britain or Ireland, with supervisors providing support throughout the placement. The scheme aims to encourage students to consider a research career through practical research experience.
Students also share their work through the Society. A final summary report describing project outputs and experience is published on its website, and students must attend and submit an abstract for a poster or oral presentation at a Society Winter or Summer Meeting within twelve months of completing the scholarship.
