    Description

This opportunity provides cooperative agreement funding to state animal food regulatory programs to achieve or maintain full implementation of the Animal Food Regulatory Program Standards (AFRPS) and, for eligible programs, to participate in mutual reliance initiatives with the FDA. The program aims to build a nationally integrated animal food safety system by supporting state programs in standardizing processes, enhancing regulatory compliance, and facilitating data sharing and joint enforcement actions with the FDA. The funding supports both the development phase (for new or less experienced programs) and the maintenance phase (for established programs), with an optional track for mutual reliance projects that promote reciprocal recognition of inspection and regulatory activities.
