Region 2 Arts Council administers this grant through its Anishinaabe Arts Initiative, with funding from the McKnight Foundation. It supports individual artists and culture bearers who are enrolled tribal members or descendants living in a nine-county area of Minnesota. All arts disciplines are welcome, including music, writing, filmmaking, dance, theater, crafts, and cultural work.
Funding supports the exhibition, performance, or production of creative work; materials and equipment for making art; arts education that does not earn academic credit; and opportunities that strengthen an artist’s career. The program connects support for creating and presenting work with the development of a creative practice. The Anishinaabe Arts Initiative Council reviews proposals for creative excellence, commitment to creative growth, and planning and management.
