--- ## Description The Anna Marguerite McCann Award for Fieldwork Reports, offered by the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA), recognizes an outstanding monograph that presents results from an archaeological field project such as excavation or survey. The award highlights works that discuss methods, clearly present and analyze primary data, and offer conclusions that advance archaeological research on multiple levels. The intent is to promote high-quality publication standards and best practices in archaeological research and reporting. --- ## Due Dates - March 15, 2026: Nomination submission deadline (letters of nomination and publications must be received by this date) --- ## Funding Amount - This is a recognition award; no direct monetary prize is specified. - The award consists of formal recognition at the AIA Annual Meeting and broad acknowledgment by the archaeological community. --- ## Eligibility - Eligible works must be academic monographs or edited volumes presenting results from archaeological fieldwork (excavation or survey). - The publication must bear a date within the four calendar years prior to (not including) the year of the Annual Meeting at which the award is made. - For the 2026 award, eligible publications are those from 2022–2025. - Authors, editors, or principal investigators of the successful nomination must join the AIA as a member if they are not already (for multi-authored/edited works, this applies only to the primary author/editor/PI). - Books may be submitted for the award only once, unless specifically requested for resubmission by the committee. - Publishers may nominate up to two books per year. --- ## Application Process - Nominations can be submitted by AIA members, authors, or publishers via the [online nomination form](https://www.archaeological.org/programs/professionals/grants-awards/applications/mccann-field-report-award/). - Required materials: - Completed nomination form - One-paragraph letter of nomination addressing the book’s significance, writing quality, and potential impact on the field - Electronic copy of the book (eBook or PDF) for committee review - Letters of nomination and publications must be received by March 15, 2026. - Notifications: The committee reviews nominations and makes a decision by October.
