Description
The AO Education Institute (AO EI), funded by the AO Foundation, offers selected fellows the opportunity to conduct research in postgraduate surgical education in a global environment. The fellowship aims to strengthen evidence on surgeons’ continuing professional development (CPD), contribute to medical education research, and improve surgical performance and patient outcomes through education. Each fellowship experience is individualized around the research project.
Projects are encouraged to address surgeons’ CPD, with no restriction to a particular methodological approach or topic within CPD and learning in the program description. Past fellows have studied curriculum renewal, simulation-based competence, near-peer coaching, video-based learning, professional identity, peer observation and feedback, surgeon well-being, fear, empathy, and restoration pathways for new mother surgeons.
