    Description

The AO/OF Research Grant funds basic and applied scientific research on dental implants. Administered by the Academy of Osseointegration (AO) and funded by the Osseointegration Foundation (OF), the program supports researchers advancing implant knowledge and clinical implant dentistry. Applications addressing ways to enhance public acceptance of implants are encouraged.

The 2027–2028 competition offers two awards: one in Basic Science and one in Translational and Clinical Science. These categories encompass laboratory research, animal preclinical studies, and clinical studies. The AO/OF Research Grant Committee selects the highest-scoring proposal in each category. The program also requires recipients to communicate their findings through an in-person AO Annual Meeting presentation and a manuscript submitted for publication in The International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants (JOMI).
