Description
The AO VET/ARI Collaborative Research Grant is funded by the AO Foundation through AO VET in collaboration with AO Research Institute Davos (ARI). It supports applied research addressing clinical issues relevant to veterinary medicine, including orthopedic fixation, fracture repair, joint arthrodesis, and bone drilling. The program connects experimental research with efforts to improve surgical strategies and patient outcomes.
Funded work includes biomechanical comparisons of fixation methods for canine femoral neck fractures, equine joint arthrodesis constructs, and studies of hypoxia’s effects on periosteal cartilage formation. Other projects investigate drilling techniques to reduce thermal osteonecrosis, external fixator clamp loosening, interlocking nails, bone graft substitutes, and large-animal locking compression plates.
