    Description

The American Orthopaedic Association (AOA) runs the Vincent D. Pellegrini, Jr. North American Traveling Fellowship to promote clinical and scientific exchange, fellowship, and leadership development. One of the AOA’s flagship tours, it introduces fellows to the diverse ways orthopaedic leaders address challenges facing the specialty. Fellows visit regional orthopaedic centers in the United States and Canada for approximately four to five weeks in the fall of odd-numbered years, with the region rotating between tours.

The experience combines academic, leadership, and social programs. Host institutions create experiences intended to advance fellows’ leadership skills, research, and career goals, drawing on their distinctive academic or historical settings. The AOA’s traveling fellowships also connect participants with orthopaedic leaders and fellowship alumni, preparing them to lead and improve the specialty.
