Description
The American Association for Thoracic Surgery Foundation’s Aortic Symposium Travel Awards provide stipends to offset the costs of attending the AATS Aortic Symposium. This two-day educational meeting focuses on the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of aortic aneurysms and dissections. It brings together cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists, cardiothoracic residents, perfusionists, and ICU and operating room nurses to learn about complex cases, step-by-step surgical techniques, and perioperative care.
The awards support surgeons and trainees in applying this learning to their training and patient care at their institutions. During review, the Foundation’s Travel Award Committee emphasizes the potential impact on treating underserved populations in applicants’ home countries. Funding is provided through the AATS Foundation Tirone E. David Honoring Our Mentors Program.
