The Shorenstein APARC Predoctoral Fellowship supports Stanford Ph.D. candidates researching contemporary Asia and U.S.-Asia relations. Run by the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center, the program covers economic, environmental, social, political, foreign policy, security, and health issues. It focuses on the final stage of dissertation work, helping candidates advance toward degree completion rather than supporting new fieldwork.
The yearlong residential fellowship places fellows within the Center’s academic community while they complete their own research. Fellows are expected to remain in residence at the Center throughout the year and participate in Center activities, connecting their dissertation work with APARC’s broader study of contemporary Asia.
