The APARRI Book Fellows Program advances scholarly and public understanding of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) religions by helping scholars carry book manuscripts toward publication. Run by the Asia Pacific American Religions Research Initiative, the eighteen-month program prioritizes manuscripts addressing stories of AAPI faith and life and/or AAPI religions and democracy. Two cohorts of up to five fellows each will participate from March 2027 through September 2028, working toward completion of at least four draft chapters.
Fellows receive structured feedback from peers and outside readers, dedicated developmental editing, and protected writing time at a three-day retreat. Publishing support includes sessions with acquisitions editors, a book proposal workshop, and guidance on contracts and peer review. A standing peer cohort provides accountability and a long-term scholarly network.
