Description
The Application Grant, also called the Phase 0 Grant, is offered by the Rhode Island Science and Technology Advisory Council (STAC) through the Innovate Rhode Island Small Business Fund. It helps eligible small businesses offset the costs of preparing and submitting competitive Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) proposals. Support is provided as reimbursement for eligible application-preparation expenses.
Established by the Rhode Island General Assembly in 2013, the broader Innovate RI Fund encourages participation in federal SBIR/STTR programs and increases federal research dollars received by Rhode Island firms. Its goals include sustaining companies through early product development, encouraging high-potential ventures, fostering job creation and small-business development, and strengthening the talent pipeline in life sciences and engineering.
