Description
Applied Science Grants are part of the Bureau of Reclamation’s WaterSMART program. They support projects to develop hydrologic information and water management tools, improve modeling and forecasting capabilities, and develop nature-based solutions. Eligible applicants include water-management entities, universities, nonprofit research institutions, and nonprofit organizations in specified Western states and U.S. territories.
WaterSMART works cooperatively with states, tribes, and local entities to address water supply challenges in the American West. Its broader priorities include modernizing existing infrastructure and avoiding potential water conflicts. Applied Science Grants sit within this cooperative effort to address regional water-management challenges through Reclamation and its partners.
