Description
The Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute (SLMath) hosts semester-long collaborative research programs in Berkeley, California, bringing together mathematicians worldwide to advance their fields. Programs span classical fundamental mathematics, modern applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, and other mathematical sciences. Research Professors contribute scientific leadership and mentor postdoctoral fellows, while Research Members and Postdoctoral Fellows participate in the programs’ collaborative research activities.
The Fall 2027 programs are Algebraic Combinatorics and New Trends in Tropical Geometry, both running from August 16, 2027 to December 17, 2027. A limited Complementary Program also offers research memberships outside the core program topics, including opportunities for partners of invited members. Family services and childcare grants help members participate fully.
