    Description

The American Pediatric Surgical Nurses Association (APSNA) Research Grant supports the development of research projects related to a clinical aspect of the pediatric surgical patient. Topics may address any aspect of pediatric surgical nursing. The program supports APSNA members pursuing professional goals consistent with the association’s mission, including research concerned with the care, treatment, and recovery of children undergoing surgery.

A featured recipient described using the grant for statistician support in an IRB-approved randomized controlled trial examining probiotics to reduce antibiotic-associated diarrhea in pediatric post-surgical populations. This illustrates support for the analytical work needed to carry out clinical research. Recipients also connect their work with APSNA’s professional community by submitting an abstract for presentation at the following year’s Annual Conference.
