Description
The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources’ Department of Environmental Conservation administers this program through its Aquatic Invasive Species Program. It helps municipalities and state agencies manage aquatic nuisances that interfere with a waterbody’s recreational potential or aquatic habitat, including plants, animals, and algal populations. The 2026 request for proposals identifies greeter, management, and scientific survey projects as project categories.
Projects addressing new infestations or establishing novel programs receive first priority, followed by work to prevent or control further spread. Recurring maintenance projects receive third priority. The department also considers public access, recreational use, local interest, prospects for long-term control, and whether a project develops a control program rather than maintains one.
