Description
The U.S.-Arab Frontiers of Science, Engineering, and Medicine program, run by the National Academies, brings together young scientists, engineers, and medical professionals from the United States and the 22 Arab League countries. Building on the Kavli Frontiers of Science and Frontiers of Engineering programs, it promotes scientific dialogue, interdisciplinary exchange, and collaboration within and beyond the Arab region, including engagement with the Arab science diaspora.
The program combines symposia with small collaboration seed grants and an alumni network supported through an online portal. Meetings explore cutting-edge research and issues important to regional capacity, including water resource management, renewable energy, food security, and sustainability. Organizations in Arab countries and the United States host the meetings as a multilateral effort, with guidance from a U.S.-Arab scientific oversight committee.
