The Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR), through its Urban and Community Forestry Program, reimburses eligible Washington communities and campus institutions for tree planting associated with annual Arbor Day public ceremonies. The assistance supports landscape-sized trees, seedlings, and materials directly related to planting and care. The 2026 reimbursement opportunity is for recognized Tree City USA communities and Tree Campus USA institutions that have held an Arbor Day ceremony during the year.
This support is part of DNR’s broader work to help communities plant and sustain healthy trees wherever people live, work, and play. The Urban and Community Forestry Program provides leadership, technical support, education, and financial assistance to strengthen local forestry programs, improve community forest health, and preserve and manage trees for public benefits and quality of life.
