Key Information: Applicants must hold an eligible CBA membership and have acceptance into a specific, institutionally affiliated excavation.
Established in 2024, the Archaeological Fellowships of the Catholic Biblical Association of America (CBA) support members’ participation in archaeological excavations relevant to biblical studies. Applicants connect participation in a specific dig to an area of inquiry or an ongoing research project and explain how that participation advances the association’s purposes.
The CBA Committee on Research Support assesses applications on merit. The program also supports work directly related to an excavation when the dig is canceled, or allows recipients to postpone their award until the following excavation season. Sharing the supported research is part of the fellowship: recipients report to the CBA Executive Board and are expected to present their work at the association’s Annual General Meeting.
