Description
The Archaeological Institute of America’s Archaeology of Portugal Fellowship supports research and study related to Portugal’s archaeology, including the Autonomous Regions of the Azores and Madeira. Supported activities include excavations, research projects, colloquia, symposia, publications, and travel for research or to present papers on Portuguese archaeology at academic meetings.
The fellowship also supports Portuguese nationals who are archaeologists or archaeology graduate students undertaking research and study in the United States. This support is not limited to Portuguese archaeology: projects may address any archaeological region or topic. Past recipients have investigated prehistoric subsistence, human mobility, burial practices, Roman production and trade, and women’s involvement in Portuguese archaeology.
