The Honor Frost Foundation’s annual Archive Fellowship supports visiting scholars conducting research centred on the Maritime Archaeology Special Collections at the University of Southampton Library. The collection includes the archives of Honor Frost, Sean McGrail, Lucien Basch and Nicholas Flemming. The fellowship aims to raise awareness of these archives within the archaeological research community, facilitate innovative research, and share findings with academic and non-academic audiences.
Proposals should focus on the eastern Mediterranean. Possible topics include the history and development of maritime archaeology, the influence of policy, changing research techniques and methodologies, or reassessing excavated sites through archival records and new technologies. Research may also explore Anchorology and Frost’s contribution to anchor research, potentially through an online exhibition.
