Description
The Arctic Field Grant is a Research Council of Norway Coordination and Support Activity supporting field-based collection of data and samples in Svalbard, including Bjørnøya and Hopen, and on Jan Mayen. Its main priority is career development in polar research for master's and doctoral students and more experienced researchers. The call covers all subjects and research areas, accepting both basic and applied research, and provides supplementary fieldwork support rather than full project financing.
International scientific cooperation and coordination are central priorities. The call particularly encourages researchers employed by Norwegian research organisations to use research opportunities in Ny-Ålesund. Projects in the Ny-Ålesund/Kongsfjorden area must explain their contribution and relationship to the area's flagship programmes.
