Description
The Research Council of Norway’s Arctic Field Grant supports direct expenses for collecting field data and samples in Svalbard, including Bjørnøya and Hopen, or on Jan Mayen. It is supplementary funding for fieldwork, not funding for an entire research project. The call accepts basic and applied research across all subjects and research areas.
The program prioritises career development in polar research for master’s and doctoral students and researchers. For student projects, the field data must be necessary for and form part of the thesis. The Council also aims to encourage researchers at Norwegian research organisations to use opportunities in Ny-Ålesund. Applications concerning the Ny-Ålesund/Kongsfjorden area must explain their contribution and relationship to the area’s flagship programmes.
