The American Research Institute of the South Caucasus (ARISC) offers Small Grants to help student scholars offset research costs in Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. Supported by ARISC General Funds and private donations, the program funds projects in the social sciences, humanities, and related sciences. Both travel within the region and remote research are supported.
The program seeks research that strengthens scholarship on the South Caucasus and contributes to regional or trans-regional inquiry. Selection considers significance to the applicant’s field, the host country’s needs and interests, and ARISC’s mission. Master’s and Ph.D. proposals are especially encouraged, though all strong proposals receive full consideration. Recipients are expected to share their completed research through an ARISC-sponsored presentation in English.
