The Giovanni Armenise-Harvard Foundation and INF-ACT Foundation jointly support mid-career Principal Investigators and Group Leaders based in Italy through this award. The program funds basic and translational research addressing unmet needs in emerging infectious diseases, including viral diseases, vector-borne pathogens, antimicrobial resistance, One Health epidemiology, and new therapeutic strategies. Clinical research is not supported.
Projects may establish a new research direction or develop a new part of a larger ongoing program. Alongside supporting research, the initiative addresses a gap in funding for mid-career basic scientists. The foundations aim to encourage other foundations and private and public institutional donors to provide sustained support for this group of researchers.
