Description
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) administers this federally funded American Rescue Plan Act program for contaminated private water supplies serving residences and wells serving non-community public water systems. It supports reconstructing or replacing a well, building a new well, or connecting to an existing private or public water supply. Treatment equipment is eligible only when no other option is feasible.
The program addresses contaminants including arsenic, nitrate, PFAS, E. coli and other substances of public health concern. Eligible costs can include contamination tests, a new pump and associated piping for a replaced well, proper abandonment of the contaminated well, and temporary bottled or trucked water. DNR is no longer accepting applications for this ARPA program.
