Description
The American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) offers this annual fellowship, funded by The Roentgen Fund, to teach radiologists the fundamentals of medical publishing. Named for former American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR) Editor in Chief Melvin M. Figley, MD, the fellowship combines personal apprenticeship with the AJR Editor in Chief and sessions with the R3 Editor in Chief and publications and marketing staff.
The curriculum covers medical writing, manuscript preparation and editing, peer review, scientific journalism ethics, and journal publication. The program aims to encourage academic careers, strengthen professional credentials, and improve radiology journals by preparing manuscript reviewers, future editors, and teachers of medical journalism within radiology departments.
