--- ## Description The Art History Travel Fund provides financial support to instructors of qualifying undergraduate and graduate art history classes, enabling students and instructors to visit special art exhibitions in the United States and internationally. The fund aims to enrich art history education by facilitating direct engagement with original works of art through structured class trips that are integral to the course curriculum. Grants may be used for travel, lodging, and admission fees, but not for meals or incidental expenses. --- ## Due Dates - April 15, 2026: Submission deadline for Fall 2026 exhibitions - October 15, 2026: Submission deadline for Spring 2027 exhibitions Applications are accepted twice yearly for upcoming exhibition travel cycles. --- ## Funding Amount - Maximum award: Up to $10,000 per class trip - Grants cover travel, accommodations, and admission fees for both students and instructors - Awards are made twice yearly, with each cycle supporting multiple institutions --- ## Eligibility - Applicants must be instructors of undergraduate or graduate-level art history classes - The class must have no more than 15 students - Both the applicant (instructor) and the institution must have current College Art Association (CAA) memberships in good standing - Eligible trips must be to special exhibitions (not permanent collections, performances, or temporary installations) that directly relate to the course content - Awards may only be used for admission, travel, and lodging expenses; meals and incidentals are ineligible - Applicants must attempt to secure group rates whenever possible --- ## Application Process Applicants must submit: - Instructor CV - Course description and syllabus showing how the exhibition visit is integrated into the course (max 500 words) - Explanation of instructor’s expertise in the exhibition subject (max 250 words) - Tentative itinerary (max 250 words) - Detailed budget with explanation of additional funding sources (if needed) - Letter of support from the department chair or dean Applications must be submitted online through the CAA application portal. Awardees are required to submit a report (up to 1,000 words) within two months of travel completion.
