Description
The South Carolina Arts Commission (SCAC) supports arts-based projects that use the arts to address issues and challenges in rural South Carolina communities. The program also supports partnerships between libraries and artists or arts organizations. Activities should expand community access to the arts and provide opportunities for participants to develop artistic skills or create work, for artists to develop through residencies or workshops, or for communities to use the arts in new contexts.
Projects may include exhibitions, digital projects, arts festivals, workshops, community murals, artist residencies, and performances with public engagement. Supported disciplines include dance, music, opera/musical theatre, theatre, visual arts, crafts, photography, design arts, media arts, literature, spoken word/slam poetry, interdisciplinary arts, public art, and folklife and traditional arts.
