Description
Art of Piano is a two-week residency run by Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Banff, Alberta. It brings emerging classical pianists together with internationally celebrated artists to explore the connection between artistic vision and craft. Participants work on historical and contemporary masterworks while developing a distinctive musical voice, performance confidence, and career direction.
Individual lessons, faculty-led masterclasses, and workshops cover technique, creative strategies, concert curation, and career development. Collaborative performances with faculty and peers, alongside performance opportunities in the wider Banff community, put this work into practice. The program includes a special focus on Philip Glass’s Piano Études, with at least two places reserved for aspiring composer-pianists prepared to perform their own works.
