Funding Amounts: Up to $10,000 per project; organizations may receive up to $20,000 total in SMAC grants per fiscal year.

Key Information: Only organizations in the 18-county SMAC region or listed tribal nations are eligible; up to 40% of grant funds may be used for operating expenses (restrictions apply).
Description
This grant program, funded by the McKnight Foundation and administered by the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council (SMAC), provides support for nonprofit organizations, government units, and eligible fiscally sponsored groups within the SMAC service region. The goal is to stimulate and encourage the creation, performance, and appreciation of the arts through innovative projects that engage and enrich the local community. Eligible activities include community performances, exhibitions, readings, arts classes, public art, and arts festivals. A limited portion of the grant may be used for operating expenses under certain conditions.
