Description
The Arthur C. Cope Award is administered by the American Chemical Society (ACS) and supported by an endowed fund established by Arthur C. Cope. It recognizes outstanding achievement in organic chemistry and combines personal recognition with support for work in the field. ACS accepted responsibility for administering the award in 1972 under the terms of Cope’s will.
The recipient receives a cash prize, certificate, and medallion, alongside an unrestricted Arthur C. Cope Fund Grant paid to a university or nonprofit institution selected by the recipient. The grant supports organic chemistry research under the recipient’s direction. Alternatively, the recipient may assign it to an institution for research or education in organic chemistry conducted by others.
