Description
The American Chemical Society (ACS) names ten Arthur C. Cope Scholars annually to recognize and encourage excellence in organic chemistry. Awards span early-, mid-, and distinguished-career stages. Each recipient assigns an unrestricted research grant to a university or nonprofit institution; the grant has no prescribed research topic or project.
Recipients deliver an award address at the Arthur C. Cope Symposium. They may also be invited to present at an ACS regional meeting the following year. Established in 1984 by the ACS Board of Directors on the recommendation of its Division of Organic Chemistry, the awards are supported by income from the ACS-administered Arthur C. Cope Fund.
