Description
The American Physiological Society (APS) offers this award to recognize independent investigators whose research uses quantitative and integrative approaches, including feedback control systems theory. Established in 1993 through an anonymous donation, the award honors Arthur C. Guyton’s contributions to physiology and his interests in feedback control and mathematical modeling of physiological systems. Guyton pioneered large-scale systems analysis to create a mathematical model of the entire cardiovascular system. The award carries an honorarium and complimentary early registration for the American Physiology Summit, where the recipient must attend to accept the award.
