Description
The Virginia Commission for the Arts offers Artist Catalyst Grants to help practicing artists reach a new point in their development. A funded activity might build artistic skills, open professional opportunities, increase visibility, deepen public engagement, or help complete a significant project. Examples include a masterclass, conference, apprenticeship, residency, website, portfolio, or showcase for new audiences.
The Commission looks for a compelling before-and-after impact: how the proposed activity or purchase will change the artist’s practice or career prospects in a way that would not occur without the grant. Support may also cover preparation, facility fees, or equipment and materials integral to the opportunity.
