Artist Development Grants support Vermont artists with creative study, professional opportunities, business services, and practical resources to strengthen artistic skills and business viability.

Description
The Vermont Arts Council’s Artist Development Grants support practicing Vermont artists at all career stages in activities that enhance mastery of their craft or increase the viability of their artistic businesses. The program supports creative and professional development, including study with mentors, workshops, conferences, residencies, and opportunities to expand professional networks. It may also support creating new work when an activity enables an artist to accept a rare and important opportunity.
Eligible expenses include professional services for documenting artwork, contracts, business setup, websites or online stores, marketing, and accounting systems. Artists may also request materials, equipment, or studio rental outside their homes. Funded by private donors, including Vermont Community Foundation fundholders, the program uses a simplified application and randomized selection process designed to support geographic distribution across Vermont.
