Description
The Maine Arts Commission’s Artist Project Grant supports individual Maine artists at various career stages in strengthening their skills, creative processes, and careers. The FY27 program supported realistic, achievable projects with clearly defined goals in any artistic discipline and at any scale. Activities included creating work, improving artistic practice, participating in skill-building programs, and bringing art to the public.
For FY28, artist grants will focus on professional development in response to changes in National Endowment for the Arts federal funding requirements. This means structured learning that strengthens skills, enhances effectiveness, and helps artists adapt to evolving arts practices. Allowable activities and costs will be limited to workshops, master classes, mentorships, apprenticeships, internships, training programs, or residencies emphasizing learning, skill-building, and career advancement. Updated FY28 guidelines will be published in early 2027; FY27 requirements below are for reference.
