    Description

Artist Residency in Schools is administered by the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council (NWMAC) to bring artists into schools for traditional week-long residencies. Artists work with a core group of students, and schools describe how the residency will be showcased to parents and the wider community. Schools are strongly encouraged to select artists from NWMAC’s Teaching Artist Roster Program or the COMPAS juried artist roster.

Schools first submit an application showing interest in funding, then request support for specific residencies through add-on forms in the online grant system. Schools can initially apply for two residencies and, depending on remaining funding, request up to four residencies total. NWMAC identifies the Minnesota State Legislature’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, established through the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, as the funding source for these grants.
