Description
The Vermont Arts Council’s Artists in Schools program supports schools and eligible Vermont nonprofits in bringing teaching artists into schools for hands-on arts learning. Residencies typically last three to ten days and may take place in classrooms, across a school, or through accessible after-school programs. Projects are intended to strengthen existing school programs while helping students create, express ideas, and develop skills in the arts or other subjects.
The Council encourages collaboration among schools, young people, artists, and arts organizations. Projects might connect dance and mathematics, develop student writing with a poet, or use visual art to explore local stories. Priority is given to projects led by Vermont artists and artists on the Council’s Teaching Artist Roster, but applicants may propose non-rostered artists.
