Description
The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) funds arts and cultural projects and artist residencies designed to strengthen social connection, belonging, and overall well-being. Projects must involve artists directly and offer experiential art-making rather than observation alone. Non-clinical activities may take place in health-based or community spaces. The program is funded in part by a National Endowment for the Arts initiative addressing loneliness and isolation through the arts.
Grantees and artists join an Arts and Health Peer Learning Cohort to exchange practices and evaluation strategies. RISCA also uses participant-reported measures to build understanding of how arts participation may inform health and public health programming and policy.
